- Julie Spalla, Gallery Director
- David Lookingbill, Asst. Gallery Director
Julie Spalla and David Lookingbill are the artists of Desert Moon Designs. They are spirited representatives of New Age mixed heritage Native American-Anglo artists. Separately, both artists were successful in finding their way on an artistic and spiritual path but have been able to share collaboratively in several art mediums.
Julie and David have a deep personal community commitment with an artistic vision that reflects their individual creative voices and diverse cultural experiences, yet share a common history. Just as one tribal nation cannot be representative of all others, the work of any one artist cannot speak for an entire people.
Desert Moon Designs aspires to respect the traditions of the past by weaving nature and tribal symbolism into contemporary design.
David and Julie invite you to share their journey by supporting a tradition of handmade in America.
Desert Moon Designs artists Julie Spalla and David Lookingbill have temporarily relocated their working studio and small gallery to the lower level of the Cherry Cottage at 2760 Greenville Highway, in Flat Rock’s Little Rainbow Row. Our open hours are Tuesday thru Saturday 11:00 to 4:00. David also can be found on Friday and Saturday in a “kiosk” next to Earthspeak Arts in Studio 375 at 375 Depot Street in Asheville’s River Arts District.
